ShotTracker’s technology to power the 2018 Hall of Fame Classic on ESPN
PHILADELPHIA, PA, November 18, 2018 – On Monday, November 19 and Tuesday, November 20, for the first time ever in Division I men’s college basketball, teams competing at the 2018 Hall of Fame Classic Powered by ShotTracker will have access to ShotTracker’s live stats and analytics on the benches during game play.
Ralph Sampson, Basketball Hall of Famer and SeventySix Capital Athlete Venture Group member, will be in attendance at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, alongside SeventySix Capital’s Wayne Kimmel and Chad Stender, as Missouri State takes on Nebraska followed by Texas Tech vs. USC. SeventySix Capital is an investor in ShotTracker. Sampson, a graduate of the University of Virginia (‘83) and a 3-time national college basketball player of the year, was the number 1 pick of the 1983 NBA draft by the Houston Rockets. In 2012, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Founded by Davyeon Ross and Bruce Ianni, ShotTracker is a revolutionary sensor-based system that automatically captures and delivers live stats and analytics for an entire team in real-time. All four teams will be equipped with an iPad for use at the Hall of Fame Classic, airing on ESPN.
During the Hall of Fame Classic Powered by ShotTracker, Sampson will interact with the coaches, players, fans and media to share his views on ShotTracker’s technology and the impact it will have on college and professional basketball.
“I’m excited to join Davyeon, Bruce and the team at SeventySix Capital in Kansas City next week to see how these teams use ShotTracker’s real-time data in action for the very first time in NCAA history,” Sampson said. “This incredible innovation helps put the spotlight on basketball as a leader in sports tech. Plus, it’s a game-changer for the players, coaches, broadcasters and fans.”
Fans in attendance at the Hall of Fame Classic Powered by ShotTracker will be able to engage with the action on the court in a whole new way — by tracking their favorite team’s advanced stats while taking advantage of the app’s amazing augmented reality feature and competing with one another in prediction driven, interactive games within the game. Additionally, ESPN commentators and members of the media will have live advanced analytics at their fingertips to enhance coverage of the games.
With investment from the likes of Magic Johnson, former NBA Commissioner David Stern, and SeventySix Capital, ShotTracker has positioned itself at the technological forefront of the sports analytics movement.
